All Heroes, 3 Months Early! Single Wave Shipping For All!

Over the last few months we have not only been able to expand the Dice Throne Community, but also our team. On the art front, artist and game designer Manny Trembley has taken on Dice Throne as his full time gig. We have also added the talented Nick Malara as a support artist to help with card art. On the development front, our network of play testers & beta testers has increased tremendously. We also now have Noah from Game Trayz directly assisting with the engineering of our new trays.

So what seemed like a ton of remaining work a few months ago for our tiny team, now seems like a reasonable amount of work for our expanded team.

Therefore, we have decided to take on the challenge of shipping everything in a single shipping wave in November. This means you will no longer have to wait an additional ~3 months for the second half of your order! Not only will you get it early, but the vast majority of the pledges will save money by not having to cover the costs of 2-wave shipping!

Final FQ: Deluxe Vac Trayz by Noah of Gametrayz.com

We are excited to reveal our final Funding Quest: a deluxe tray! Designed and engineered by the industry leader in component storage, Noah Aldeman from Game Trayz.

We absolutely love the idea of a tray that not only holds your dice, cards and dials, but your entire hero!

The deluxe tray design is of course not compatible with Season One heroes, and we therefore had to make a difficult decision: the Battle Chest will not support season one heroes and will no longer come with 6 vac trays for these heroes. This was a very difficult choice to make. But doing so allowed more freedom for Noah to create one of the coolest deluxe trays we have ever seen. These trays are double the cost to produce than we had previously planned, but after Noah presented it to us, we couldn't possibly say no to this hotness!

This design means that your entire hero will always be contained within a single tightly designed tray that you can grab, open, and start playing. And yes, the trays will of course support sleeved cards!

Collector Pledges: Eco-friendly Shipping = Bonus Play Mat!

When we send out the surveys, collector level pledges will now have the ability to choose an eco-friendly option and receive all components in a single Battle Chest. As a motivation for the eco-friendly option, we will give you a third play mat at no charge!

Play Mat Designs: Choose your favorite hero!

As an additional thank you, we have decided to add 14 new play mat designs! All Collector levels will now be able to choose between the following options for their play mats (2 free at this tier, or 3 free if you choose the eco-friendly option):

  • Season One Montage
  • Season Two Montage
  • Dice Throne Minimalist
  • ANY HERO OF YOUR CHOICE! (from S01 or S02)

Please Help Spread the Word!

We have 24 hours left to go. Please share about the campaign anywhere and everywhere you can. Let's make one final push together to make the best Dice Throne we possibly can!

Thank you all for your support! If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at [email protected].

Funding Complete! Thank you all!
about 6 years ago – Tue, Mar 13, 2018 at 10:06:05 PM

We did it! The final stats: $930,500, 7754 Backers, 1240% funded, 5290 comments. WOOO!!!

It's over! Well, actually the work has just begun for Team Roxley. There is still work to be done before we can get these games to the factory, but our team is excited for the challenge... right after we sleep for a few days. :)

A lot of people made this production possible, and they need to be thanked. First and foremost we need to thank the designers, Nate Chatellier and Manny Trembley for their unending passion and dedication to this project and Gavan Brown for taking the graphic & product design to a whole new level. We also need to thank our team: Mr. Cuddington, Damien Mammoliti, Nick Malara, Aaron Hein, Adrian Vaughan, Heather Anderson, Yorgos Georgeadis, Hamid Reza Ansari, Paul Saxberg, Adam Wyse, Noah Adelman, Jonathan Herrera-Thomas, and Dan Tolczyk. Also thank you again to those of you who have been involved in the Facebook and BGG communities--the Seraph would thoroughly approve of the brilliant light you shine!

Meet the Treant!

Thank you to the 457 of you that submitted hero concepts for the "Your Hero Your Way" funding quest! This response completely blew us away. During our live stream last night, we announced the winner. Congratulations Kevin Nguyen, your Treant won the vote!

We are very excited to co-create this hero with you and deliver a free PnP version to all backers (Battle Box & above)! Honorable mentions go to Nat Kisa A (Kitsune), André Forsblom (Chained Berserker), Jessica Learned (Sidhe Guardian), and Matthew Holinaty (The Leonine). Thank you to the 1,415 of you that voted!

Ok, I backed it, but what happens now?

1) We Sleep - Team Roxley takes a short break until next week.

2) Payment - Your credit card attached to your Kickstarter account will be charged your pledge amount. If there is a problem, they will continue to retry for 1-2 weeks. If you have a problem with payment, please contact Kickstarter support, as we will not be able to assist.

3) Pledge Manager - You will then receive an email requesting that you provide information to the pledge manager website. Here, you will be asked to confirm your order, and will also have the option to add more copies of the game as well as other Dice Throne goodies. Roxley will be using a reputable and secure pledge management platform. The pledge manager will also process any shipping charges that you owe.

4) Production - Our team will work on finishing the last few bits of the game. Once we have completed this work, we will submit the files to the manufacturer, who will produce the game!

5) Fulfillment - After the games are finished at the factory, they will take a long journey across oceans. They will then be shipped out to you. The target delivery date for this is November 2018.

I just found out about this, can I still buy it?

Unfortunately the campaign is now over, but we will be setting up the ability to preorder the game at a higher price when we launch the pledge manager.

I backed as a retailer, when do we receive the details?

We will send retailers an email within the next week outlining the retailer details, but if you haven't yet completed this form, please do so.

Fortnightly updates

Keeping you informed is extremely important to us. Starting on Monday, March 19, we will begin our trademark Fortnightly updates.

These updates will occur every 2 weeks from now until fulfillment of the game is complete, regardless of whether or not there is anything to report. But best of all, our updates are full of progress bars showing you every single type of work we have remaining and how much of it we've finished.

You helped shape this game.

While Roxley has a very clear vision for all of our products; we take great pride in not designing inside a box. Many of the funding quests introduced during this campaign were a direct result of backer discussion and suggestions. At Roxley, we believe that creating and introducing Funding Quests during the campaign is the true spirit of crowd funding, as it allows us to feed off of your needs and creativity. In a way, Roxley Kickstarter campaigns are a live broadcast, not a scripted one. Your comments were all read and analyzed by our team. We thank everyone who contributed constructively to the discussion.

Thank you again from the whole team for helping to continue to make Roxley and Dice Throne a reality.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please email us at [email protected].

Funding Quest: Champion Edition Exclusive Comic Book! Season One Comic Release! Fan Hero Voting Open!
about 6 years ago – Thu, Mar 08, 2018 at 01:40:48 AM

Hello everyone!  We are entering the final homestretch with less than 3 days left in the campaign! Thank you so much for your amazing support and participation in this campaign. We are so thankful for each and every one of you!

Dice Throne: Comic Prologue - Read it now!

Manny has finished the Dice Throne Comic Book prologue issue promised during the original Dice Throne Kickstarter Campaign. Within the next month, we will be printing these and shipping them to 2017 backers who ordered a copy within Pledge Manager.

We will also be including a physical copy of the Prologue with all Epic and Legendary Collector Tiers at no charge! These will be shipped with your final order. If you are a Season Pass backer and would like a copy of the prologue comic book, no problem! You will be able to add this on during the pledge manager.

Your Hero, Your Way

First, we must be very clear: the number of amazing ideas for new Dice Throne heroes was incredible. We received a total of 457 submissions. That is nearly 1/8th of the backers. Let's be clear about something else: Our team read EVERY SINGLE ONE of these submissions. As expected, there were a lot of overlapping ideas, many of which we are already working on... for example, we received 23 separate submissions for a Werewolf! Seeing overlap like this is actually useful, as we can see which characters you are most interested in for future seasons!

Remember: Just because your submission was not selected, does not mean it was not amazing. We are thankful for everyone's participation, are extremely happy with how well received this competition was.

The Finalists!

Names from finalist entries have been temporarily removed to ensure non-bias during voting. We have also done our best to standardize the format in which they are presented below (again, to reduce bias). We will provide full credit to all finalists as soon as a winner is announced! Here they are:

Leonine Warrior: The Leonine Warriors are known across the realm for their unmatched ferocity. The Warhammers of the Leonine Tribes are an unstoppable force! Carry the fury of your Pride and make your opponents quake when they hear your Battle Roar! The Leonine brings with him a new twist to Dice Throne. Incorporating High and Low straights to activate the powers of his Twin Warhammers, the Leonine offered a unique take on Dice Throne's core mechanics. These new interactions with the core fun of Dice Throne was the main reason that the Leonine was chosen.

Sidhe Guardian: The Fae are numerous and powerful, but none as strong as the Sidhe Guardian. She has no equal and during each battle, Duna, goddess of the Fae, bestows a special Hand of Power upon her. The Hands of Power augment the Guardian's considerable abilities. The Sidhe Guardian was chosen because of her unique use of variable ability augments. Each game her abilities and gameplay will be augmented with a "Hand" that was determined randomly at the beginning of the game. You will have to adjust your play depending on the Hand you receive to be victorious. The Development team thinks this is unique and would bring something new and exciting to Dice Throne!

Treant: Ancient as time itself, the roots of the Treant run deeply. The powerful branches and natural magics of the Treant will crush any who oppose him. His opponents must be cautious of his Saplings. If they are allowed to grow, the battlefield will be choked with root and vine! The ancient Spirit of the Forest will accept no quarter and will never retreat. The Treant submission was unique in both mechanics and theme. With its unique use of tokens and new growth mechanics, the Treant would be a fun and engaging addition to Dice Throne.

Chained Berzerker: Chained and Caged, the Wrath of this Brute knows no peer! The Chained Berzerker breaks free of his restraints as the battle rages on. You had better finish him off before he sheds them all or you'll find the destructive fury of his Devastating Blows and Unleashed Rage too much to take! The Chained Berzerker was a submission that grabbed the development team on multiple levels. He begins the game with certain abilities chained. As the game goes on, the chains break and the Berzerker gets more powerful. This was a unique take on abilities and the upgrade system that we believe shows a lot of promise and would bring strong theme and gameplay mechanics to Dice Throne.

9-Tailed Kitsune: The Kitsune is a cunning & mystical Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit with powerful celestial magics. Using the magic of its Hoshi No Tama, the Kitsune outwits her opponent with her centuries of wisdom. There were multiple Kitsune submissions and the decision of which one to nominate was not taken lightly. We'd like to give an honorable mention to Kaitlin McCay and William Hadjison for their interesting takes on the Fox Spirit. This Kitsune submission gave some interesting depth to the hero and really resonated with the development team. We believe that the Inari Fox would give players a unique hero with strong thematic gameplay while stepping into new territory for Dice Throne's hero roster.
